Here is what you can do to remain safe:

• Try to exit the carriageway, pull into a service area or a lay-by.

• If you are unable to exit the carriageway, get as far off the road as is possible. Be careful of any ditches, soft verges or obstructions.

• Turn on your hazard warning lamps to alert other road users.

• Turn on your side lamps, if it is dark or visibility is poor.

• Call us. Let us know you require assistance.

• If it is safe to do so, place a warning triangle or other warning devices to alert road users around you.

• Wait outside and away from your vehicle.
